here's my list. would love to hear others.
1. listen to music.
e.g. kishore songs.

e.g. Emerson essay on compensation.
"For everything you have missed you have gained something else."

3. go to the gym. workout. jog. lift weights. play a game.
table tennis really helps.
resolve to be your fittest.
adversity must make us stronger, not weaker.
4. travel internationally
take a trip to some country you've never gone to before.
observe people's olympic struggles.
it's part of the human experience.
5. learn a new skill
something you've always wanted to do but did'nt get around to.
public speaking, dancing, singing...your choice.
take a class at a community college or a university.
6. go to temple or church or mosque.
make a deeper spiritual connection with God.
let him lift some of your burden.
i listened to Hari Om Sharan after many years and experienced a real sense of joy.
7. spend time learning about US government.
get to know more about how government works. why does house vote differently than the senate ?
get to know the 100 senators and 435 house reps. especially how they stand on legal immigration.
our friends on the other side of the fence have done us a favor by organizing this information

8. learn from IV efforts of previous years
many skills were introduced which could have helped us. what can we learn from what failed ?
e.g. comprehensive immigration bill 2006. it passed in the senate but stalled in the house.
Gandhigiri did work this year. it was a major success story we should celebrate and learn from.
9. accept and enjoy the present.
accept the present moment. breathe.
enjoy nature - the sun, the moon, the heavens, fresh air and water. make new associations and friends.
experiencing these gifts of life is enough to keep one happy.
10. write it out.
record the feelings you are going through in writing.
capture the details.
what was your journey, your expectations, your highs and lows ?
you may see your struggles in a different light 10 years from now.

We are in the same situation... This will be a good thread to track receipts for cases specifcally like ours. That way, we will know at least when the first batch of cases will be transferred to TSC.

got receipt notice dated 6th of june for 140 premium processing and got call from employer on 8th of june evening saying the case has been approved. approved in less than 3 days.

Did anyone see Byron Dorgan's (Democratic Senator from North Dakota)interview on Stephen Colbert last night? This guy just wrote an anit-outsourcing book (http://www.amazon.com/Take-This-Job-Ship-Brain-Dead/dp/031235522X --no I am not plugging his book!) and he is full of 'they stole our jobs' rhetoric. This is typical outsourcing/globalization-bashing democratic mentality and it's disturbing to seeit still persists 2 years after Presedential elections.

Totally agree with admin2. Rules are rules .. if you can apply and get thru EB2 .. so others 'qualified' have the right to do so.

I did not call them to get the RNs but I got the I-485 checks cashed for my wife and me.
The checks for I-485 for my daughter and the checks for AP and EAD were not cashed though.
But again, looks like, July 3rd 9:03 received by R. Williams, is no more a MIA case.
By the way the receipt date is marked as Oct 10th. Service center is NSC.

Thanks Zooom, for starting this thread. Called 3/14 the first time and was told that FP would be scheduled. Never heard so called again on 5/9 and this time was told to callback after 60 days from the initial call.
I spoke with one rep who said that they are processing "June 29th" applications so you have to wait for your "Biometrics Appointment". I am kinda lost on this one.
What is the best number to reach the right Customer Service department alongwith the options to reach a live person to speak with who can actually schedule the Biometrics Appointment.
Am a July 2nd Filer - Actual Application filed on Sep 10th.

Applied for EAD on 24 July 2008, recd today. Valid for 2 years from the date of approval. Though lost almost 2 months on the previous EAD.

I'm going to call Texas Tomorrow ! If i call USCIS they never transfers to TSC or NSC easily.
Why do you have this hunch?
It seems like all the LUDs on approved I140 from Texas for July filers is pointing towards their I485 being sent to Texas too. Hence, this unimaginable prolonged delay. Can we do anything about it except sulk?

So USCIS should make sure they clear for 2 jobs before they issue one H1 :)
This thread is specifically discussing the Cornyn bill. I will not put down a lot of irrelevent stuff, but let me say this and end.
The tone of ur earlier posting may have hurt some people.
Some of the reforms that happened and some the IV is pursuing will probably help most H4's a long way.
Earlier (even now for those stuck in PBEC) the labor used to take 2-3 years. With PERM most of the labors r taking 4-6 months. I140 also seems to be very fast.
Now if every body is able to adjust their status upon labor approval, that is less than a year's wait time for H4. Not a bad deal.

You can file for an EAD up to 4 months in advance... according to my lawyer

I am not sure how things works. But couple of months back i read somethings in the below line.
There is an organization working for people like you in immigration process. This org started post 9/11. As there were lots of people died then and their spouses dont want to back to their countries and want to live here etc etc. There is a way in IMMIGRATION where IF spouse want to stay where their partners dies due to their memories , they can grant some kind of visa or status. I read this long back. may be you can try that way and as always good lawyer help is needed to go through.
