I have convinced a few people at work to do this. Their point is, if we really want to do this, let's do it in a way that works. After receiving a few deliveries, USCIS will get the idea and direct it's lobby security to refuse all further flower deliveries. What's our plan for that situation?
How did the people who delivered nuts to CBS make it happen? The delivery was actually done via UPS. It's difficult to refuse a UPS packet in the security lobby! Should we send chocolates via UPS instead? It will be much more difficult to refuse deliveries of chocolates.
Media will not let it go...ALL THEY NEED IS NEWS!!! Which is new...Let us give a shot.

My wife got EAD approved on 16th Aug and I got my approved today. I do not know why 10 days of delay.
One thing I noticed is within last week or so, lot of people are receiving EADs and I485 processing is slowed down. I think now they are concentrating on EADs and come sept they will again jump to 485s. Just a guess!

It does not matter, you have to show +ve outlook, to perform and brings results - this is key to survival. Well, it is too personal, but:
- I give one hour to body, mediatation, exercise, yoga
- Sometimes I go to temple, spend 10-15 minutes

Gurus,
I have a unique position. couple of weeks back I was told that have fatal cancer and won't live pass 4-6 months. After recovering from initial shock I am wondering if my wife will be able to continue her american dream or she will have to head home after me.

Nice assumptions...but we need evidence. Do any USCIS documents say they would need proof of a *running* income? (After all, you don't have paystubs for a future job in same/similar occupation.) Since GC is for *future* job, why can't self-employment in same/similar occupation, under AC21 and with *projected* revenues, be enough? Do they ask for paystubs and proof of long-term commitments/contracts in EVL-RFE?
Pls note that with current recession/depression, the "prevailing wages" for same/similar occupations have gone down--drastically in some cases (esp. IT). Also, you could open/register your LLC (by spending $400) for your self-employment to sound more "legitimate"--but that's certainly not a requirement.

Hi,
There are several restrictions/constraints for many ppl for not being able to devote time/money for the general cause. Let's not fret about the reasons. While it would help for all ppl to join forces that should not distract the group that is doing something about the issues.
And ppl on the sidelines - pls don't be a passive professional critique. However valuable your comments and ideas are they are useless without acting upon it - they are just like seeds sown in a barren land. The good work of the forum will continue without your presence. With your involvement we all can reach the goal that much more faster.
My Labor certification is actually filed in the state of IL. But i am on an assignment in MD till Sep 2010 (after filing for relevant amendments).
It's ~5 hrs drive for me to Baltimore/Washington-DC. So, coming every week for a meeting is not practical. I am extremely eager to support OUR cause given the commuting constraints. I have already written to our congress man here to bring to his notice the struggles of wannabee immigrants.
So, where do i sign up?
Harikris, I hear you. People are in different situations. I was not mad about moving to this country and for a long time, I preferred travelling instead. Then I reached a point where I preferred to be with my family and thought it is best if we move here and we filed for our GC at the same time. If it does not work out, I am entirely content moving back. Heck, even if it does work out, I might move back.
I am not crazy enough for my GC to spend all my waking hours trolling forums and calling people names. It is just not worth it. I do donate, the same way that I donate to the local zoo and botanical garden. I give them money to run something so that I and others may benefit from it. The people who run it are passionate about it and do it for themselves and others.
If things work out, everyone will benefit, the people who worked, and those who didn't, the people who donated and those who didn't. When India fought for its freedom, people donated money and time. I am ready to bet that less than 1% joined in the strugle. There were people who worked for the british government and there were people who went on with their lives. Everyone got freedom, the people who worked got recognized and remembered. That is life.
The ones who are desperate need others to pitch in to create a critical mass in terms of both money and numbers. I think this realization needs to sink in and insulting people into getting donations out of them is probably not a strategy that will work very well.
These forums are an excellent rallying point and I think more people being helpful and polite will go a long way.
Of course, I say all this with my leathery skin waiting to be called a useless idiot who writes bullshit.

I will also suggest guys waiting with their PD current to write to the USCIS Director in DC. I did that; not sure if that worked in my case, but one needs to explore every way of bringing their case to the attention of the management.

I consider the 30-40 range 'golden' years . Enough experience to handle various things without much botheration of senility. Depression is not continuous, but comes once in a while. Currently i am optimistic that India EB2 will move forward starting Oct.2008 and my PD of Nov.2002 will become current some time in 2009 and i will be inching to 10 years of SSN eligibility.
I also have following kind of worries too, which haunt me often.
Being the 'only son' there is a big emotional pull from the parents to take care of them. But am worried about 'transporting' the American citizen kid back to India ( like them adjusting to the culture there ). Now my batch mates who got GC ( because they came early to USA and got lucky. One India EB2 friend - applied PERM in 2005 & I-485 in 2005 - got his GC in Aug 2007 ! ) , aiming for citizenship , then they want to move to India and plan to bring up kids there. And when they are 'ripe' for higher studies, march back to USA.

Case status online says AP approved on Nov 2nd.
But NO FP.
Opened a SR on Oct 19th but don't have an appointment.
Called again yesterday and was told to call back on Nov 19th if I still don't have FP appointment.
Of the 6 filers at my job, only 2 got FP...very strange.
FYI, when I called the USCIS, they said it is very unusual not to get FP right after receipt notices. Apparently, the FP appointments are sent "automatically" after the receipts are generated/sent etc. That's what the USCIS rep told me anyways and she opened a SR on her own based on the info I gave her that my FP appointment hadn't arrived after over 100 days.

Been in the US since 1998, have an EB-2 PD of 2001, have played by the rules all along. Still no GC... And, the dates are going back to 2000 from the new year.. I've lost hopes...
A: I suggest you to have a trip in India and visit some places like Dharavi,
Mumbai. If you do not want to go to India, Just take a trip to Brooklyn, NY
You will see lots of souls in a such condition, you will start feeling better.
I would not say this is nice way to feel good but that is the qucikest thing
I can think of. What I mean to say is do not feel hopeless as you are in a
way better condition than millions. And those millions have not lost hope
and faith. Yes, you do not have GC so I also do not have GC. I do not
have assets like what Bill Gates or Anil Ambani has. So now I get a good
reason to depress and feel hopeless. Should I start feeling depressed?
I'm pretty close to getting clinical depression because of this game played by USCIS, Labor Dept, FBI and my own bad luck.
SKILL bill, OMNIBUS, etc. comes and goes. IV does seem to be doing things to lobby for the community, but let's face one reality. Like a news article said, no one in congress or senate wants to touch immigration even with a long pole until 2009.
Ans: World history is full of events when people have done and made success
against all odds. Have confidence and faith in yourself. Stand up to
challenge the problems and entities who impose the problem on you.
The US has been very good to me (other than the GC part), more than my home country (India) which is why I'm still here.
Question: Have you done anything good for India or planning to do any good
for USA? Or it is always about yourself?
Have invested too much of time in this country to just pack up and go.
